the other victim also african american, found slumped on the 'compassion bench' was known throughout the community and campus as 'mr. compassion'.

the third victim, still recovering, was a homeless woman living in a known homeless encampment, stabbed repeatedly from the outside while in her tent.

all three attacks were noted for the brutal, violent, and rage-fueled nature of the crime.
