i wasn't traveling solo i was with my mother... who was japanese and the only ONE of the TWO of US that could read signage as we made our way around her hometown of kokura-kyushu and beyond...

i was miserably out of 'control' as mom and i drug our bags and bentos from one wrong train platform to another... mom's sense of direction left something to be desired.

perhaps when/if i find myself back in japan... solo... i'll be sure to travel LIGHT this time as i'll likely be just as bad if not worse than my dearly departed okasan.

being vulnerable isn't for sissies.

thanks for reminding me i've got train platforms to revisit.
